Transparency and lightness are characteristic for the architectonic depictions and landscapes of Erwin Kastner, the founder of Spontaneous Realism. For him water colouring sets new standards, that he also wants to achieve in other techniques.
Kastner works in open air, directly in front of the motif. Perception and artistic transformation happen at the same time. Kastner‘s acrylic paintings seem to be similar spontaneous as the flighty sketched water colours. But the process of painting is different. The spontaneous brush drawing in ink from different perspectives is the foundation for the later painting, where the dynamic of colours seems to develop totally free from graphic guidelines and intercommunicates with the structure provided by the lines.
Within the last years Erwin Kastner dedicated himself to glass art. In his home town Haag one of his glass sculptures decorates the fountain in main square.
