The painter and graphic artist Anton Lehmden came as a teenager to Vienna, where he studied at the Academy of Fine Arts with Albert Paris Gürtersloh. 1962 he got a professorship in Istanbul, 1971 to 1999 he was Professor at the Academy of Fine Arts Vienna. Lehmden is a member of the group "Wiener Schule des Phantastischen Realismus"/Vienna School of Fantastic Realism. His technique follows the old masters. Common themes in his pictures are natural disasters, war incidents and landscapes. Since 1966 the artist lives in the Renaissance castle Deutschkreutz in Burgenland.
